Let’s Get Real, Tacoma
-
What I Like Best: With a great location in the North End of Tacoma, the North Slope Historic District boasts neighborhoods filled with incredible homes. No two houses are the same which makes for a unique atmosphere; some of the best historic homes in all of Tacoma here! With the majority of these homes having been built before 1930, the neighborhood is even part of the National Historic Register.
-
What I Like Least: Because it is a historic district, there are some strict rules governing the way that homes can be remodeled and maintained. While this is great in preserving the overall character of the neighborhoods, it can be a distressing experience for new homeowners who maybe didn’t know what they were getting into.
Living in the North Slope Historic District
One of the greatest things about living in this area is the strong sense of community the neighborhoods offer. Getting involved is easy— there’s a vibrant Facebook group where everyone enjoys participating. You’ll find people working together to arrange everything from garage sales, finding lost pets, and just generally looking out for each other. Plus, this area is very walkable and perfect for taking your dog for an evening stroll or going for a run.

Dave’s Meats & Produce: Even though Old Town might claim Dave’s as their own, this is a convenient little spot to pick up local food for North Slope dwellers. Dave’s even offers Taco Tuesday, Italian Thursday and Tamale Friday deals that are quick and delicious take-out dinner options ideal for busier nights!
